COLOR STORIES Yellow

YELLOW is a Happy Color

From Wikipedia:  Yellow:   is the color of gold, butter, and ripe lemons.[2] In the spectrum of visible light, and in the traditional color wheel used by painters, yellow is found between green and orange.

Yellow Ochre as a pigment color was discovered in a cave at Lascaux, as an imag of a horse colored with yellow estimated to be 17,300 years old.

In China, yellow is the color of happines, glory and wisdon.  The name of the first Emperor of China, Huang Ti, meant literally "the yellow Emperor".

The color yellow denotes warmth, like the sunshine.  Yellow is used in a variety of home decor, as an accent color or as a primary color.

In the picture below yellow is an accent color, and is a very dramatic look with the black and white.

A yellow kitchen!  This is a great spot for a happy color.  An added bonus is that food looks good against yellow.  Does that sound strange, as an Interior Designer, when working with a kitchen, I always talk about color and food together in the kitchen.  Just for a point of interest, mauve is the very worst color to use in a kitchen.  There is no food at all that looks good against mauve.

The room is very creatively decorated with yellow, blues and reds.  This is definitely a fun, happy and welcoming area.  This family probably entertains frequently and shares their happy spirit with friends and relatives.

For color happiness, find a spot in your home for this sunny color.  Yellow as an accent can be used with more colors in the color wheel than any other color there is.
